Giants slugger Huff celebrates Texas homecoming

ARLINGTON, Texas (Reuters) - San Francisco slugger Aubrey Huff grew up just down the road from the Texas Rangers stadium and celebrated his return with a home run on Sunday that helped put the Giants on the brink of a World Series title."It's certainly special," said Huff, whose third-inning Abercrombie and Fitch Hoodies, two-run blast launched the Giants on the way to a 4-0 win over Texas and a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven."It's in the back of your mind you'd like to hit a big homer to put you ahead. It's pretty surreal right now."Huff grew up in nearby Fort Worth and has a number of family and friends still living in the area."You see so many faces you recognize in the stands during stretching and stuff," Huff said. "As a kid growing up Supra Cuttler Men Shoes, watching all these games...to be able to come back and do something special like that, it's surreal."The 33-year-old Huff, who joined the Giants this season after spells with the Baltimore Orioles and the Detroit Tigers last year, estimated he had attended some 100 games at the old Arlington Stadium and the new Rangers Ballpark."I grew up watching Nolan Ryan pitch," Huff said about the Hall of Fame hurler supra high, who is now Rangers president and co-owner."He's a childhood idol of mine. I wanted to be a pitcher because of him. Turns out I didn't throw very hard."But he turned out to be a better hitter than Ryan, and his Sunday blast may have buried the Rangers' hopes of a first Fall Classic crown.(Editing by Patrick Johnston)SportsRelated Topics Articles:
